After originally intending to compile a book of images to serve as a handbook to new employees, Rick Owens decided that the finished book – a distillation of his brand’s aesthetic – might also interest his clients. In Owens’ own words: 'It was a wonderful exercise to isolate whatever I felt I did gracefully and eliminate whatever I considered awkward or unresolved. I wanted to examine what I’d done calmly, summarised. I’m afraid that it was a very selfish indulgence.'
